ITINERARY

Day 1: USA – MILAN

Day 2: MILAN
Arrive at Milan Airport. Meet and transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: MILAN – VENICE
Breakfast at the hotel and start our visit to Milan by the famous Cathedral of the Duomo, built at the end of the fourteenth century on the site of the Forth century church dedicated to St. Thecla. An orientation tour will take us through the major streets and monuments of Milan before heading to Venice. Arrive at Venice, dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: VENICE
Breakfast at the hotel. We start our day by taking a boat ride through the Canal of this unique city built over more than 100 small islands to the Piazza of St. Mark to visit the Basilica dedicated to the Apostle, then stroll through the picturesque streets of the city for shopping. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: VENICE – PISA – FLORENCE
Breakfast and leave to Pisa to visit its famous leaning tower. Continue to Florence,the birthplace of the Renaissance and called the Athens of Middle Ages. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1982. The city is noted for its culture, Renaissance art and architecture and monuments. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 6: FLORENCE
Breakfast and start our visit with a local guide to the historic center of the city: the Duomo Square with the Baptistery, the interior of the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Flower, the belfry of Giotto. Walk till the Old Bridge (Ponte Vecchio) and the Square of Santa Cruz (Holy Cross) with the Franciscan Church, famous for the paintings of Michael Angelo, Galileo..etc. In the afternoon, visit the Academy to admire Michael Angelo’s DAVID and the market of St. Lawrence for shopping. Dinner and overnight.

Day 7: FLORENCE – ASSISI – ROME
Breakfast and leave to Assisi, Walk through the city of Assisi and visit the Basilica of St. Francis with the Crypt with the Tomb of the Saint. Visit also the Basilica of St. Claire. In the afternoon visit the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels and continue to Rome. Dinner and overnight.

Day 8: ROME – PAPAL AUDIENCE (only on Wednesdays)
Buffet breakfast. In the morning transfer to St. Peter’s Square in order to participate to the Papal Audience (if the Pope is in Rome). In the afternoon, meet with your local guide to begin a tour to the Vatican Museums starting by Pigna Square, the Galleries of Roman Busts, the Candelabra, the Tapestries and the World Map Gallery. Then to the Immaculate Room, the Sistine Chapel with the Universal Judgment of Michael Angelo, the interiors of the Basilica of St. Peter with the statue of LA PIETA. The tour ends at Piazza St. Peter. Rest of the day at leisure. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 9: THE BASILICAS OF ROME
Breakfast at the hotel. Visit to the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, one of the oldest of Rome dedicated to Virgin Mary. Then we’ll visit the Cathedral of Rome: San Giovanni in Lateran with the Holy Steps. Continue to visit St. Paul outside the walls and some of the catacombs near Via Apia. Back to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: ANCIENT AND CLASSICAL ROME
Breakfast at the hotel and we’ll start the day visiting the Coliseum, the Roman Arena Theater. Then to Vittorio Emmanuele Memorial Monument. Walk through the ancient streets to the Piazza Spagna (Square of Spain), the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and many other monuments and squares. Dinner and overnight.

Day 11: ROME – NAPLES
Breakfast. Leave to Naples and visit the city: the Town Hall Square, Umberto I Gallery, the Royal Palace, San Carlos Theater, the Fishermen Quarter with its hotels Such as VESUVIO where died the celebrity Caruso. Visit the Cathedral of St. Genaro, Patron Saint of the city. Dinner and overnight.

Day 12: NAPLES – POMPEII – CAPRI – NAPLES
Breakfast and leave to visit the excavations of Pompeii, a roman city buried by the
eruption of the Vesuvio volcano in 79 AD. Continue to the port and board a ferry boat that will take us the Island of Capri to visit the famous Piazzetta, the Gardens of Augustus. Return by ferry to Naples. Dinner and overnight.

Day 13: NAPLES – AMALFI COAST – NAPLES
Breakfast and leave to Sorrento and continue to Positano. Board a boat to Amalfi enjoying the views of the Amalfitan Coast from the sea. Arrive and visit the Cathedral with the Paradise Cloister. Return to Naples. Dinner and overnight.

Day 14: NAPLES – ROME – USA
Breakfast and leave to Rome (either by highway or by domestic flight) to baord.
Your flight back to the USA.
