07 OCT.: USA - ROME

08 OCT.: ROME - FLORENCE

Arrival at Rome airport, reception by the English-speaking accompanying guide, and transfer by bus to your hotel in Florence, dinner, and accommodation.

09 OCT.: FLORENCE - ASSISI

Breakfast. Visit to the historic center of Florence to see places like the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Baptistery and the Gates of Paradise, Piazza della Signoria, the Loggia, or the Uffizi Gallery, Piazza della Repubblica, the statue of David by Michelangelo, the Straw Market, or the iconic “Ponte Vecchio.” Leave for Assisi, arrive in Assisi, dinner, and accommodation.

10 OCT.: ASSISI

Breakfast at the hotel. Tour in Assisi, the homeland of St. Francis. Visit the Basilica dedicated to Saint Francis, and which contains his tomb in the crypt. Also visit the church of St. Claire and the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels. Dinner and overnight in the hotel at Assisi.

11 OCT.: ASSISI – LORETO – SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO

Breakfast at the hotel and depart to Loreto and visit the 15th-16th century Basilica housing the reliquary of the Holy House. The room in which, according to tradition, the Archangel Gabriel brought news of the forthcoming birth of Jesus to Virgin Mary. Continue to San Giovanni Rotondo. Dinner and overnight.

12 OCT.: SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO – MONTE CASSINO – ROME

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the Sanctuary and monastery complex. Eucharistic celebration. Father Pio, a Capuchin Saint who received, among many other graces, the stigmata of Christ. We will visit the monastery where he ministered and the new sanctuary that keeps his incorrupt body exposed to the faithful. In the afternoon, depart to Monte Cassino, site of the Roman town of Casinum, it is widely known for its Benedictine abbey, the first house of the Benedictine Order, having been established by St. Benedict of Nursia. We will continue our trip by coach to Rome. Arrival to our hotel, dinner and overnight.

13 OCT.: ROME: THE VATICAN MUSEUMS, BASILICA OF ST. PETER – ANCIENT ROME

Breakfast at the hotel. This morning, we will visit the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, where the conclave is held to elect the successor of Peter. We will end the visit by seeing the interior of St. Peter’s Basilica. In the afternoon, we will have a visit to the Coliseum, where Christian martyrs were thrown to wild animals. Then we will have a walking tour to the ancient part of Rome to visit the famous Trevi Fountain, the Piazza di Spagna (Spanish Square), & the Pantheon. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight in Rome.

14 OCT.: ROME

Breakfast and dinner at the hotel. Day at leisure to enjoy personal activities and shopping

15 OCT.: ROME: CHRISTIAN ROME

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the Basilica of Saint Mary Mayor and the Basilica of St. John Lateran. Continue for a visit to the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls. Return to our hotel. Dinner and overnight.

16 OCT.: ROME: THE PAPAL AUDIENCE

Breakfast and departure in private transfer with our accompanying guide to the Vatican for a public audience with the Pope Francis.

Breakfast and departure to the airport with the assisting guide.
