Arrival at Rome International Airport. Meet with your guide and transfer to your hotel in Rome. Dinner and overnight.

Nov 04: ANCIENT AND CLASSICAL ROME

Breakfast at the hotel and we’ll start the day visiting the Coliseum, the Roman Arena Theater. Then to Vittorio Emmanuele Memorial Monument. Walk through the ancient streets to the Piazza Spagna (Square of Spain), the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and many other monuments and squares. Dinner and overnight.

Nov 05: ROME – PAPAL AUDIENCE (only on Wednesdays)

Buffet breakfast. In the morning transfer to St. Peter’s Square to participate to the Papal Audience (if the Pope is in Rome). In the afternoon, meet with your local guide to begin a tour to the Vatican Museums starting by Pigna Square, the Galleries of Roman Busts, the Candelabra, the Tapestries, and the World Map Gallery. Then to the Immaculate Room, the Sistine Chapel with the Universal Judgment of Michael Angelo, the interiors of the Basilica of St. Peter with the statue of LA PIETA. The tour ends at Piazza St. Peter. Rest of the day at leisure. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Nov 06: THE BASILICAS OF ROME

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit to the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, one of the oldest of Rome dedicated to Virgin Mary. Then we’ll visit the Cathedral of Rome: San Giovanni in Lateran with the Holy Steps. Continue to visit St. Paul outside the walls and some of the catacombs near Via Apia. Back to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Nov 07: ROME – GONDOLFO CASTLE – AMALFI COAST

Breakfast at the hotel. Leave Rome to the famous Gondolfo Castle, a town located 25 km (16 mi) southeast of Rome, in the Italian region of Lazio. Situated on a hilltop in the Alban Hills with panoramic views of Lake Albano. Within the town’s boundaries lies the Apostolic Palace of Castel Gandolfo, which served as a summer residence and vacation retreat for the Pope, Although the palace is located within the borders of Castel Gandolfo, it holds extraterritorial status as one of the properties of the Holy See and is not under Italian jurisdiction. It has been transformed into a museum and is now open to the public. Continue our trip to the beautiful Amalfi Coast. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Nov 08: AMALFI – ST. ANDREW CATHEDRAL

Breakfast at the hotel. This day we will enjoy our stay at this wonderful and attractive city of Amalfi Coast which is a stretch of coastline in southern Italy overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Gulf of Salerno. It is located south of the Sorrentine Peninsula and north of the Cilentan Coast. Celebrated worldwide for its Mediterranean landscape and natural diversity, the Coast is named after the town of Amalfi, which makes up its main historical and political centre. It is a very popular destination, and has been an attraction to upper-class Europeans since the 18th century. Attracting international tourists of all classes annually the Amalfi Coast was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Atrani and Vietri sul Mare are counted among I Borghi più belli d’Italia (The most beautiful villages of Italy). Also, we will visit the famous Cathedral of St. Andrew which is medieval roman Cathedral dedicated to St. Andrew whose relics are kept here. The fist Church was built in the 9th. Century and decorated several times with Arab-Norma, Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque elements. The inside crypt has a stair leading to the relics of the Apostle. Return to your hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Nov 09: SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO – PADRE PÍO

Breakfast at the hotel. Leave for San Giovanni Rotundo, the home of Padre Pio since July 28, 1916, until his death on September 23, 1968. The Padre Pio Pilgrimage Church was built in devotion to the saint and dedicated on 1 July 2004. The town is renowned for its hospital and medical-research centre Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza (Home for the Relief of the Suffering) founded by Saint Pio of Pietrelcina. The nearby Sanctuary of Saint Michael the Archangel is also the site of Catholic pilgrimages and was visited by Pope John Paul II in 1987. Arrive to your hotel, dinner and overnight.

Nov 10: PERUGIA REGION – ORVIETO – URBINO – VINEYARDS - ASSISI

Breakfast at the hotel. Leave to Orvieto which is a small city perched on a rock cliff in Umbria,Italy. Duomo di Orvieto, dating from 1290, has a mosaic facade and houses a marble Pietà sculpture. The Pozzo di San Patrizio is a 16th-century well shaft with a double spiral staircase. Continue to Urbino for a visit to its Cathedral, dedicated to the Assumption of Our Lady and since 1986 it has been the seat of the Archbishop of Urbino-Urbania-Sant’Angelo in Vado, and was previously the seat of the Archbishops of Urbino.

Continue to Perugia, which is an Italian city and the capital of the Umbria region. It’s known for its defensive walls around the historic center. The medieval Priori Palace exhibits regional art from the 13th century onward. Looking onto Piazza IV Novembre, the Gothic cathedral houses Renaissance paintings and frescoes. In the square’s center, Fontana Maggiore is a marble fountain with carvings of biblical scenes and zodiac signs. The region is rich for it its vineyards. We will have the possibility to visit one of the factories if times allows. Arrive at URBIBO. dinner and overnight.

Nov 11: ASSISI

Breakfast at the hotel. Continue to Assisi, Today will be dedicated to exploring the city of Assisi, homeland of St. Francis. Walk through the city of Assisi and visit the Basilica of St. Francis with the Crypt with the Tomb of the Saint. Also visit the Basilica of St. Claire. In the afternoon visit the Blessed Carlo Acutis incorrupt body at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels. Return to the hotel in Santa Maria Degli Angeli. Dinner and overnight.

Nov 12: ASSISI – ROME

Breakfast at the hotel. Depart to Rome. Arrive at your hotel at Fiano Romano. Dinner and overnight.

Breakfast at the hotel. In due time, transfer to Rome International Airport to board your flight back to the USA.
