Arrive at Rome Airport. Meet with your tour escort and transfer to your hotel. Dinner and overnight.

MAY 06: ROME
Breakfast. In the morning, meet your local guide to begin a tour to the Vatican Museums starting by
Pigna Square, the Galleries of Roman Busts, the Candelabra, the Tapestries and the World Map Gallery.
Then to the Immaculate Room, the Sistine Chapel with the Universal Judgment of Michael Angelo.
Then pass through the Holy Door to the interiors of the Basilica of St. Peter with the statue of LA PIETA.
The tour ends at Piazza St. Peter. Return to your hotel, dinner and overnight.

MAY 07: ROME – PAPAL AUDIENCE - BASILICA OF ROME
Buffet breakfast. In the morning transfer to St. Peter’s Square to participate to the Papal Audience (if the
Pope is in Rome). In the afternoon, visit the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, and the two important
Basilicas of St. John Lateran and St. Mary the Major with the experience to ascend through the Holy
Stairs. Return to your hotel. Dinner and overnight.

MAY 08: EXCURSION TO CASTEL GONDOLFO
Breakfast. Leave with your tour escort in an excursion to the Castel Gondolfo, situated on a hilltop in
the Alban Hills with panoramic views of Lake Albano, Castel Gandolfo is home to approximately 8,900
residents and is renowned as one of Italy’s most scenic towns. It is one of I Borghi più belli d’Italia (“The
most beautiful villages of Italy”). Within the town’s boundaries lies the Apostolic Palace of Castel
Gandolfo, which served as a summer residence and vacation retreat for the Pope. Although the palace is
located within the borders of Castel Gandolfo, it holds extraterritorial status as one of the properties of
the Holy See and is not under Italian jurisdiction. It has been transformed into a museum and is now
open to the public. Return to Rome for free time. Dinner and overnight.

MAY 09: ROME – PIETRELCINA. SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO
Breakfast at the hotel. Depart with your tour escort to Pietrelcina, the birth town of Padre Pío. Then
Leave for San Giovanni Rotondo, the home of Padre Pío since July 28, 1916 until his death on September
23, 1968. The Padre Pio Pilgrimage Church was built in devotion to the Saint and dedicated on 1 July
2004. The town is renowned for its hospital and medical-research centre Casa Sollievo della
Sofferenza (Home for the Relief of the Suffering) founded by Saint Pío of Pietrelcina. The
nearby Sanctuary of Saint Michael the Archangel is also the site of Catholic pilgrimages and was visited
by Pope John Paul II in 1987. Arrive to your hotel, dinner and overnight.

MAY 10: SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO - MONTE SANT ´ANGELO
Breakfast at the hotel. We will start our day with a Holy Mass at the Old Church of St. Mary of the
Grace. Then will visit St. Pío Friary with his tomb, his cell and confessional.
Then we will leave with your tour escort to enjoy a drive through the nearby Shrine of Monte Sant
´Angelo, a town appeared only in the 11th century. Between 1081 and 1103 Monte Sant’Angelo was the
capital of a large Norman dominion under the control of Count Henry, who was a vassal of the Byzantine
Empire. The grotto which houses the Sanctuary of Saint Michael the Archangel where, according to
legend, St. Michael appeared in 490, 492 and 493, has been the site of many famous pilgrimages, which
started from Mont Saint-Michel. Pope John Paul II visited the sanctuary in 1987.
Return to our hotel, dinner and overnight.

MAY 11: SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO - LANCIANO – LORETO - ASSIS
Breakfast at the hotel. Leave with your tour escort to the town of Lanciano, for a visit to the Church of
St. Francis, home of the Sanctuary of the Eucharistic Miracle.
Then continue to the famous Marian Shrine of Loreto for a guided tour of the Holy House, where
according to tradition, angels transported the house of the blessed Virgin Mary, Arrive to Assisi. Dinner
and overnight at your hotel.

MAY 12: ASSISI
Breakfast at the hotel. Today will be dedicated to exploring the city of Assisi, homeland of St. Francis.
Walk through the city of Assisi and visit the Basilica of St. Francis with the Crypt with the Tomb of the
Saint. Visit also the Basilica of St. Claire. In the afternoon visit the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels.
Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

MAY 13: ASSISI – CASCIA – ROME
Breakfast at the hotel. Leave with your tour escort to the town of Cascia was the home of Saint Rita of
Cascia, who was born in the nearby frazione of Roccaporena in 1381 and died there in 1457. After her
canonization in 1900, a large shrine, with the Basilica of Santa Rita da Cascia, was built in Cascia, which is
still an important place of pilgrimage; and the house where she was born may still be visited. The town
also is home to the frescoed 14th-century church of Sant’Antonio Abate. Afterwards we will make a stop
at the Minor Basilica, site of the Eucharistic Miracle, commemorated every year in the Feast of Corpus
Christi. Continue to our hotel in Rome. Dinner and overnight.

MAY 14: EXCURSION TO FLORENCE (170 miles
Breakfast at the hotel. Leave with your tour escort for an excursion to the beautiful city of Florence,
capital of Italy’s Tuscany region, is home to many masterpieces of Renaissance art and architecture. One
of its most iconic sights is the Duomo, a cathedral with a terracotta-tiled dome engineered by
Brunelleschi and a bell tower by Giotto. The Galleria dell’Accademia displays Michelangelo’s “David”
sculpture. The Uffizi Gallery exhibits Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus” and Da Vinci’s “Annunciation.”
Return to our hotel in Rome. Dinner and overnight.

Breakfast at the hotel. In due time, transfer to Rome Airport to board your flight back home.
